Main Road/School Lane, Upper Winchendon photo: Malcolm Aslett
The right angle turn of these roads has become a hairpin bend. That darkening and loss
of rich colour is due to varying the brightness of the images to match the sky in each
subsequent image. The light in the sky varies greatly in scenes like this and there are
a few strategies to try. As it was the shapes in this picture that seemed the thing to
watch out for the colour values were sacrificed. As the faces seemed fine – and this
is what the viewer will concentrate on and ignore much of the rest – it seemed a
fair solution.
