There is beauty in order but you can easily forget that the word 'order' is a verb too, and a distasteful one at that. So there is pleasure to be had in disrupting a classical facade. It started as an accident but I tied the wishbone blending of the pilar into the doorway section. No disrespect to the institution itself. The photos were taken at the tail end of the year. The time of year allows a clearer view of the building as those trees are lush in the middle of the year. Even the steps go a little wonky. Other things were evenly protrayed so as to keep the distortion within limits. It only seems fair to mess with these civic representations that wield power and influence over us. Childish in its way. And in some ways not. The colonial style of buildings were a source of pride and control for a couple of centuries here in Virginia. Elegant and imperial though not as flashy as it could have been. Everything and everyone in its place. A noble and calm simplicity. And blue skies. Nothing but blue skies coming my way. That's it. Nothing special. |
